Airplane Adventure

Who ever once convinced me that flying is easier than driving is nuts...at least with kids. Yesterday morning we headed to the airport for an 11:30am flight to Atlanta and then on to Springfield, MO where Brian is interviewing for a job. Our first breakdown occured in the security line where Isaac threw an absolute fit about having to take off his shoes and fold up his stroller. Don't most kids loved to get their shoes off? Mine obviously doesn't. We got on the plane and by this time Isaac was really tired and starting to get fussy...but refused to fall asleep in Brian's arms. To make things worse, we were stuck on the ground because the military decided to use up more than their fair share of the airspace and air traffic was too heavy. Isn't their enough sky for everyone???? Anyway after about an hour delay and trying to keep Isaac occupied with crayons, books, movies, food, and anything else we could think of we finally took off and were on our way. The flight was far from crying free. Oh, here's another little part. Originally we were seated on the side of the plane with two seats and we each had a kiddo on our laps. Apparently though, there aren't enough oxygen masks on that side so we had to switch with two ladies on the other side of the plane, giving us an extra seat. We thought...GREAT...now Isaac won't have to sit on our lap. But no...he absolutly refused to wear the seat belt and had to sit on our lap for take off anyway. At least, the extra space was nice during the flight....I think. It also just gave Isaac an excuse to be more figity.
We made it to Atlanta, but missed our connection by about 15 minutes, turning our 1 hour layover into a 4 hour airport stay. We were about to pull our hair out when we made it to our gate and found to our's and Isaac's great pleasure that there were some play structures there. (If you get stuck in Atlanta with kids, they are located by gate C47). These and the fact that Brian was able to get Isaac to take a nap were our saving grace.
The flight to Springfield was pretty uneventful and so far we havereally been impressed with how nice everyone is here.
Oh yeah...you notice I haven't said much about Nathan. He was a perfect Angel!
